Karatay Municipal Caravan Park is based on the outskirts of Konya, Turkey, and at the time of writing this we are just about to leave the park after staying here for 3 days.
I’m not going to write a lot here for this review because below you will find a short video giving you a tour of the site, but what I will say in summary, if you don’t want to watch the video is to say that we definitely RECOMMEND this site!
It’s easy to get to, it has supermarkets, cafes etc….in walking distance. Basic shower and toilet, electricity, water, locked gate and CCTV. There is a huge park next door with 4 playgrounds, a small funfair (the fair was closed for maintenance whilst we have been here) and the park is filled with BBQ points, picnic benches and a lovely pond and toilets.
You can stay on this caravan park for 3 nights for FREE! This was part of the arrangement created by the municipality to encourage more tourists to come and visit. We have never been on a campsite with full facilities that we have been given for FREE!
If I could mention one negative point and that is that the traffic on the main road is pretty loud, but no site is perfect and the pros of this site far outweigh the road noise!
You can’t book, like most municipal sites there is no guarantee you will get a space, but we were lucky and there was plenty of space when we arrived, although last night the place was rammed by a huge motorhome party from Italy. You couldn’t move!
Anyway, if you are heading Konya way, to explore or perhaps like us on your way to Cappadocia, then definitley consider this place for a stop over!
Thank you Karatay Municipality!
